Love and Forgiveness
I was honored to share my newest novel of The Vessels series with my home church — Spirit of Joy. It was wonderful to reconnect with friends as Pastor Ryan and I discussed the book’s themes of unconditional love, forgiveness, diversity, equity, inclusion, and the importance of living at peace with everyone. The Vessels series is not religious, but the books are an entertaining, exciting, supernatural sci-fi means to helping us become our best while being faced with our worst.
I helped build Spirit of Joy (as a reformed bowling alley) and was active there for 20+ years. I served in many capacities, including as congregational leader. But our Social Justice team made my heart beat most. Our team created events that served the poor, the hungry, and the homeless. We cleaned up highways, built handicapped ramps, and helped neighbors in need. The Team remembered Pulse and embraced our LGBTQ brothers and sisters. We fought to build the Samaritan Resource Center for the at-risk in East Orlando.
